Life

I was born in Utah, and grew up in a working-class area outside of Toronto. There I learned to value cultural diversity, and building community with neighbors different from myself. I earned a science degree and moved back to Salt Lake City to work at the University of Utah.

When I married fifteen years ago, I came to South Salt Lake and am now the mother of four sons, ages 9-13. I have worked many, many types of jobs, and continue my efforts to supplement my family's income and still be able to volunteer at my children's school and contribute to my community. I have a good understanding of how business and services interact to serve society, and I know what it is to struggle to make ends meet.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT AILEEN

Melissa Ethington

I am personally acquainted with Aileen and feel she will make a good councilwoman. She has worked to be of service not just as a job but in the community. She knows that she is running to serve us in our neighborhoods and not for herself. I have watched her become educated about the issues. She won't just take your word for something, she will work to understand the issues so she can help make the correct decisions and educate others as well. She isn't afraid to get out and talk to others so she can hear what the people of the city want. She can see the diversity in our city and is proud of her own diverse background. She has an open mind for hearing what the people of South Salt Lake want in our community. I plan to vote for Aileen for City Council.
